Mothers Day

With Mothers Day around the corner, I want to wish all mothers, mother to be and mothers who have past a Happy Mothers Day.

I was blessed to have 5 beautiful and healthy girls. Having the blessing of having children has come to many women and will come to many more. Unfortunately some women get the other side of the coin where they can’t have children.  I’ve had the honor to meet such an amazing woman that was dealing with infertility. The first year that I experienced Mothers Day with her, we were talking and as we were saying our good-byes, she wished me a Happy Mothers Day. Without thinking or explaining myself i replied, “Happy Mothers Day to you too.”

Harsh huh!

Very disappointed she replied, “Thank you, but i don’t have children.” Although i can feel your judgement coming on as I type, let me explain and tell you exactly what I told her. So I said,

“I’m sorry but I have seen how much love, compassion and dedication you have for your step daughters. I’ve had the privilege to work with you in nursery  and the way you care and teach the children, there is no way that you or anyone can say that you are not a mother. For being the amazing woman you are, I must say it again… Happy Mothers Day.” After I said that, her expression changed. She thanked me and she told me that she had never thought of it that way and that she was grateful for my word.

“It was something I needed to hear.”

I am a strong believer that a mother is not just a woman whose given birth. I am so happy to wish all women a Happy Mothers Day. Just like all men can be a father, but not all men can be a dad…. all women that care or have cared, teach or taught, love or have loved a child….. is, has and will always be an amazing mother in my book and in the book of all those beautiful children who has been blessed by having you in their lives. So with a heart full of love for you I say….. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

With much love, peace and joy from
