Although it has never been easy for me to workout due to health issues, injuries, 5 kids, homeschooling, housework and a c-section that still hurt once in a while……. working out is one of my
passions. Through this passion to be healthy, I decided that it would be fun to compete in bodybuilding. Yes I know that the first thing that comes to mind when I mention bodybuilding is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
But rest assure that there are other categories and no, bodybuilding doesn’t mean that you are on steroids. In order for me to compete I do have to get into the best shape ever, but overall I have to be healthy. As I go through this journey, I have to face many things not only physically but mentally as well. This is the time where I am working the hardest against myself. I know that when my body is ready to give up, I have my mind to push me through that extra rep or set. So what happens when my mind gives up? When my inner-self says that I’m not good enough or that this is one of those dreams that I can not accomplish?
When I get to this point, knowing where I want to go and knowing what I want to achieve can take me a long way. I can not achieve my dream if I don’t have a complete picture of what my dream is. We all have that one person inside of us that keeps us in the comfort of failure, because if you fail before you achieve your dream, you don’t disappoint yourself or others. When your goal is clear and you have a complete image of the finished product, you can get past that point of giving up… you will begin to see that YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH and this is a dream that can be accomplished.
This might not be my current state of athleticism
my goal vs my reality
But having a clear picture where I want to go with my dream…. my mind will always have that motivation to keep going. And of course, having a team that is always on your side to support you and to help you, won’t hurt.
